Bio
Emily Takara is an incoming first year at Stanford University. She likes sci-fi, art, design, surfing, and learning new things. Since she was a kid she has been engaged and creative in making: since elementary school she has been volunteering at maker workshops and entering design contests, and since middle school has been designing/conducting workshops and presenting in conferences. Recently Emily has been exploring and presenting about biomaterials and making biodesign more approachable and accessible as a member of the GIY Bio Buddies. The team won Runner Up to the grand prize and Outstanding Field Research in the Bio Design Challenge.
